Multi-Sensory Time Kits help people to recall memories through the senses
Do you know someone having difficulties with memory loss and recall?
The Multi-Sensory Time Kits have been designed under the guidance of an Occupational Therapist to help people who are living with dementia or other neurological disorders.
The kits will assist to encourage happy memories and discussion, using five different themes.

The Multi-Sensory Time Kits have been used by carers, family and friends, in care homes and private settings.
They are in Libraries, Aged Care Centres, Day Activity Centres and Hospices.
They have been purchased by the Centre, by the Centre’s Auxiliary, by local service groups such as Soroptimist International and by grateful families and donated to the Centre.
Here’s what they’ve said…
A retired male farmer staying at the Hospice spent several sessions with a volunteer going through the kit, watching the films and talking about their experiences and reminiscing.
One client became quite talkative about the need to feed his cattle and get on with the farm work.
Clients with early to moderate Dementia thoroughly enjoyed the sensory experience.
Two of our clients are English so they talked about pebbled beaches, we then sang songs- “You are my Sunshine” etc - it was a great session.
They all loved listening to the waves crashing from the large shell in the kit.
When I observed the DVD there was lots of reminiscing during the afternoon tea, especially with the children present.
We are using it when we have overnight clients in at about 5pm, when clients are relaxing at the end of the day, a calming time.
